Surrey Demolishes Middlesex in T20 Blast 2026: Ollie Pope Shines in Easy 8-Wicket Win!
Surrey achieved a very easy win against Middlesex in the ongoing T20 Blast tournament. Surrey completely dominated the game from the start and won the match by 8 wickets with 35 balls still left to bowl.
Middlesex batted first but failed to score a big total against a strong Surrey bowling attack. Surrey chased down the target comfortably in just 14.1 overs, showing why they are one of the top teams in the tournament.
Middlesex Batting Performance and Collapse
Middlesex did not have a good day with the bat after being put into bat first. Their opening batsmen failed to give a solid start, and wickets kept falling at regular intervals. M. Holden made 12 runs, and A. Rossington scored 20 runs before getting out.
The middle order of Middlesex also collapsed under pressure. Captain L. du Plooy only managed to score 8 runs. However, R. Higgins scored 27 runs, and L. Hollman played a good unbeaten knock of 31 runs off 29 balls to help Middlesex reach a total of 130/7 in their 20 overs.
Surrey Bowling Attack Dominates
Surrey bowlers did an excellent job of keeping the Middlesex batsmen quiet throughout the innings. Sean Abbott was the star bowler for Surrey, taking 2 wickets for just 16 runs in his 4 overs with a very low economy rate.
Jordan Clark also bowled beautifully and picked up 2 wickets for 31 runs. Reece Topley and Tom Curran supported them well by taking one wicket each. The disciplined bowling from Surrey never allowed Middlesex to play freely or set a big target.
Surrey Superb Run Chase
Chasing a small target of 131 runs, Surrey batsmen started with great confidence. Openers Jason Roy and Will Jacks played aggressively from the first over. Will Jacks scored a quick 24 runs off 17 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes before losing his wicket.
After Jacks departed, Jason Roy continued his excellent batting form. He scored a brilliant 46 runs off 31 balls, hitting 7 beautiful boundaries. He set a perfect platform for the team before getting out in the 12th over.
Ollie Pope Brilliant Half-Century
Ollie Pope played a fantastic match-winning knock to guide Surrey home safely. He looked in sublime touch from the moment he walked out to the crease. Pope smashed 51 runs off just 33 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Captain Sam Curran came at the end and scored 7 runs off 4 balls. Ollie Pope stayed till the end and finished the match in style. Surrey scored 134/2 in 14.1 overs, winning the match comfortably by 8 wickets.
