India vs Afghanistan Match Highlights: Jaiswal and Rohit Power India to 9-Wicket Win
Introduction to India's Dominant Performance
India showed their absolute class once again in the third ODI match against Afghanistan. The Indian cricket team completely dominated the game from the very first ball and registered a beautiful win by 9 wickets. With this brilliant victory, India has officially won the three-match ODI series by 3-0, completing a perfect clean sweep.
Fans in the stadium and all around the world enjoyed this high-energy match. India proved why they are one of the best teams in international cricket right now. On the other side, Afghanistan tried their best but they could not stop the powerful Indian batting and bowling attack today.
Afghanistan's Early Top-Order Batting Collapse
Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first, but their start was like a nightmare. The Indian fast bowlers were on fire and did not give any room to the Afghan opening batsmen. Rahmanullah Gurbaz went back to the pavilion after scoring just 5 runs, and Ibrahim Zadran could only manage 11 runs.
The pressure kept increasing on the visitors as Rahmat Shah also got out quickly for 5 runs. Within the first ten overs, Afghanistan lost four crucial wickets for just 36 runs. It looked like the whole team would get out under 100 runs because the Indian bowlers were bowling with great line and length.
Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi's Brilliant Fighting Century
When Afghanistan was struggling badly, captain Hashmatullah Shahidi stood up like a real leader. He played an unbelievable knock under immense pressure to save his team from total disaster. Shahidi scored a magnificent 102 runs off 131 balls, decorated with 13 beautiful fours and 1 big six.
He stayed calm at one end and built a very important partnership to bring Afghanistan back into the game. His captain's knock showed great character and determination against a world-class bowling lineup. Every cricket fan appreciated his fighting spirit today because scoring a century after a top-order collapse is never easy.
Azmatullah Omarzai's Strong Support in the Middle Overs
Azmatullah Omarzai provided great support to his captain when the team needed it the most. He played a very solid and entertaining inning of 50 runs from just 56 balls. Omarzai smashed 5 boundaries and 2 huge sixes during his time at the crease, which helped increase the run rate.
The partnership between Shahidi and Omarzai shifted some pressure back on the Indian team. They rotated the strike regularly and punished the loose balls perfectly. Mohammad Nabi also added 21 useful runs later, but after Omarzai's departure, the lower batting order crumbled again.
Prasidh Krishna's Incredible Five-Wicket Haul
The hero with the ball for the Indian cricket team was undoubtedly Prasidh Krishna. He bowled an exceptional spell of fast bowling that completely broke the backbone of Afghanistan's batting lineup. Krishna bowled 8.2 overs, kept 2 maiden overs, gave away only 23 runs, and picked up 5 wickets.
His bowling economy was just 2.76, which is absolutely outstanding in modern-day ODI cricket. He took the early wickets and then came back to clean up the tail-enders. Other Indian bowlers like Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, and Harsh Dubey also chipped in with one wicket each to bowl Afghanistan out for 218 runs in 44.2 overs.
India's Powerful and Explosive Opening Start
Chasing a target of 219 runs was never going to be difficult for this strong Indian batting order. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma came onto the field with a very aggressive mindset. They started attacking the Afghanistan bowlers from the very first over and scored runs at a rapid pace.
The Afghan bowlers looked completely clueless against the beautiful stroke play of the Indian openers. They put up a massive opening partnership of 170 runs, which completely ended Afghanistan's hopes of winning this match. The ball was flying all over the boundary lines during this wonderful partnership.
Yashasvi Jaiswal's Unstoppable and Magical Century
Young sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal played a magical and explosive inning that left everyone speechless. He smashed an unbeaten 110 runs off just 86 balls with a phenomenal strike rate of 127.91. His fiery inning included 14 classic fours and 3 massive sixes all around the ground.
Jaiswal showed great maturity and handled both pace and spin bowling with absolute ease. He stayed till the very end to ensure that India crossed the winning line without any more trouble. This century will surely boost his confidence for the upcoming international cricket series.
Rohit Sharma's Aggressive Fifty and Shreyas Iyer's Finish
Indian regular batsman Rohit Sharma also played a fantastic and entertaining knock at the top. He made a quick 79 runs from 69 balls, hitting 9 fours and 3 elegant sixes before getting caught off Mohammad Nabi's bowling. His elegant shots were a treat to watch for all the cricket lovers in the stadium.
After Rohit Sharma got out, Shreyas Iyer came out to bat and scored a quick 20 runs off 19 balls with 2 sixes. He remained not out alongside Jaiswal and finished the match comfortably. India chased down the target of 224 runs in just 28.4 overs with 9 wickets remaining in their hands.
Conclusion and Series Clean Sweep for Team India
In the end, it was a completely flawless performance by Team India in all three departments of the game. Their bowlers did an amazing job to restrict Afghanistan to 218, and then the batsmen chased it down like a walk in the park. Winning the series 3-0 shows India's absolute dominance at home.
Afghanistan will definitely look back at their mistakes, especially their batting collapse in the early overs. However, captain Shahidi’s century was a positive takeaway for them. For India, it was a perfect day, and the team looks in great shape for their future cricket challenges.
