The cricket excitement is back with a bang. Pakistan started their 3-match ODI series against Australia with a fantastic victory. It was a complete and brilliant performance from Team Green in the opening match.

First, the Pakistani bowlers did an amazing job to restrict Australia to a very low total. Then, the batsmen played responsibly to chase down the target easily. Pakistan won the match by 5 wickets with 45 balls left.

Australia Wins the Toss and Bats First

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first on a fresh pitch. They were hoping to put a massive total on the scoreboard to pressure Pakistan. The Australian openers came out with a positive mindset to attack the bowlers.

However, Pakistan's bowling attack had some other great plans for the day. Captain Shaheen Afridi started the first over very well. He kept things tight and did not give any easy runs to the batsmen.

The First Breakthrough for Team Green

Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf bowled with great pace in the opening overs. The Australian openers tried to settle down but found it very difficult to score. The pressure was building up with every single dot ball.

Australia lost their first wicket when the team score was at 34 runs. Alex Carey was caught beautifully by Salman Ali Agha off Abrar Ahmed's bowling. Carey scored 19 runs off 24 balls before walking back.

Arafat Minhas Starts His Magic Spell

After the first wicket, the real magic started from the Pakistani spin attack. Young spinner Arafat Minhas came into the bowling attack. He completely broke the backbone of the strong Australian middle order.

He first picked up the crucial wicket of Josh Inglis for 13 runs. Inglis tried to play a defensive shot but was caught right in front. He was given out lbw after a confident appeal by the bowler.

Two Big Ducks for Australia

On the very next ball, Arafat Minhas shocked the entire stadium. He got the massive wicket of Marnus Labuschagne for a golden duck. Labuschagne failed to read the turn and was trapped lbw immediately.

The young bowler did not stop his brilliant attack there. In his next over, he clean-bowled Cameron Green for another duck. Australia suddenly went from a stable 62 for 1 to a miserable 68 for 4.

Matt Short Fights Back for Australia

The wickets were falling fast from one end for the visiting team. However, opener Matt Short tried his best to stay strong at the crease. He played some good shots to keep the scoreboard moving.

He scored a fighting 55 runs off 76 balls with 6 fours. His innings finally ended when he was smartly stumped by Muhammad Ghazi Ghouri. This was another big wicket for the unstoppable Arafat Minhas.

Matthew Renshaw Hits a Fine Half-Century

After Matt Short got out, Matthew Renshaw took the responsibility to guide Australia. He played a brilliant knock of 61 runs off 63 balls. He smashed 5 boundaries and 1 beautiful six during his stay.

Renshaw shared a small partnership to give Australia some hope for a total. But his innings was ended by Abrar Ahmed, who bowled him out beautifully. Australia was once again in deep trouble after his departure.

The Tailenders Fail to Survive the Pace

The lower order of the Australian team could not face the pressure. Oliver Peake made only 7 runs before giving a catch to Ghazi Ghouri. Salman Ali Agha took this important wicket to stop the runs.

The Australian tailenders had no answers to Pakistan's top-class bowling strategy. Mitchell Kuhnemann played a little bit and made 24 runs off 40 balls. He was caught by Babar Azam off Haris Rauf's bowling.

Arafat Minhas Completes His Five-Wicket Haul

Nathan Ellis was the next batsman to fall to the spin web. He scored 8 runs before getting clean-bowled by the young sensation. This wicket completed a wonderful milestone for the young Pakistani bowler.

Arafat Minhas finished with incredible career figures of 5 wickets for 32 runs. He bowled his complete quota of 10 overs with great control. Australia was completely bowled out for just 200 runs in 44.1 overs.

Pakistan's Run Chase Begins with Early Blow

Chasing a target of 201 runs was not a big task on this pitch. Pakistan needed a steady and careful start from their opening batsmen. Sahibzada Farhan and Muhammad Sadaqat came out to open the innings.

However, Pakistan lost their first wicket very early in the chase. Opener Muhammad Sadaqat fell for just 8 runs off 14 balls. He was caught off Matthew Kuhnemann's bowling with the total score at 25.

Sahibzada Farhan Departs After a Good Start

Sahibzada Farhan looked in good touch and played some lovely strokes. He scored 28 runs off 33 balls, hitting 3 beautiful boundaries. He was looking set for a big score today.

Unfortunately, he also got out to a spinner while trying to accelerate. He was caught by Matt Short off Tanveer Sangha's bowling. Pakistan was left in a tricky situation at 49 runs for 2 wickets.

Babar Azam and Ghazi Ghouri Take Control

After losing two quick wickets, Pakistan needed a solid match-winning partnership. The nation’s most reliable batsman, Babar Azam, joined hands with Muhammad Ghazi Ghouri. Both players showed amazing maturity under pressure.

They kept their cool and started building the innings with clean cricket. They rotated the strike regularly and punished the bad balls easily. This beautiful partnership took the match completely away from Australia.

Babar Azam Scores a Masterclass Fifty

Babar Azam played a classic anchoring knock for his beloved team. He scored a wonderful 69 runs off 94 balls with great patience. His brilliant innings included 4 fours and 1 massive six.

He did not take any unnecessary risks during his match-winning stay. He kept the scoreboard ticking with easy singles and doubles all the time. He showed everyone why he is the best batsman in the team.

Muhammad Ghazi Ghouri Shines with the Bat

Wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Ghazi Ghouri played an equally important role today. He supported Babar Azam perfectly and played with great confidence. He scored a fantastic 65 runs off 92 balls.

He smashed 8 beautifully timed boundaries all around the ground. He looked very comfortable against both pace and spin bowling. Together, Babar and Ghouri put up a massive 127-run partnership for the third wicket.

Australia Gets Quick Wickets near the End

When Pakistan was just a few runs away from a comfortable win, Australia struck back. Nathan Ellis bowled a great spell and got the breakthrough. He bowled out Babar Azam for a well-made 69 runs.

In his next over, Ellis got the wicket of Ghazi Ghouri as well. Ghouri was given out lbw after making a superb 65 runs. Salman Ali Agha also got out quickly for 6 runs to Marnus Labuschagne.

Arafat Minhas Finishing Style

These late wickets created a little bit of drama in the stadium. However, these breakthroughs came way too late for the Australian team. Arafat Minhas came out to bat with a very positive mindset.

The young hero showed his amazing talent with the batting blade too. He scored a quick 18 runs off just 17 balls with full control. He smashed 2 boundaries and 1 big six to finish the game.

A Comfortable 5-Wicket Victory for Pakistan

Arafat Minhas and Abdul Samad stayed together until the very last ball. They comfortably took Team Green across the winning finish line without further damage. Pakistan reached 202 for 5 in just 42.3 overs.

Pakistan won the opening match by 5 wickets with 45 balls remaining. For Australia, bowler Nathan Ellis was the most successful with 2 wickets. Kuhnemann, Sangha, and Labuschagne picked up 1 wicket each during the chase.

Pakistan Takes the Lead in the ODI Series

With this dominant win, Pakistan now takes a 1-0 lead in the series. It was a perfect display of planning and execution by the home side. The fans are absolutely delighted with this clinical performance today.

Australia will definitely look to fix their mistakes and bounce back next time. On the other hand, Pakistan will want to win the next match. They will try their best to seal the 3-match series early.
